How It Works
- In early fall public library staff make contact with schools to promote the program
- Interested students form teams of six – teachers register teams with library in mid October
- Libraries order book sets based on the number of registered teams (schools must have a minimum of two teams to participate, though four to six teams is ideal).
- Book titles are announced on November 1!
- Library staff coordinate with teachers to deliver books
- Team members read as many books as they can and work to remember as many details as possible
- All teams participate in one or more levels of Challenge.
- In February/March the Challenges begin:
#1 School ChallengeTeams challenge other teams in their school. |
|
#2 Library ChallengeWinning school teams challenge each other at their local library. |
|
#3 Community Challenge (for larger library systems)Library Challenge winners compete to determine the overall library system winner. |
|
#4 Grand ChallengeWinning teams from Coquitlam, Fraser Valley Regional Library, New Westminster Library, North Vancouver City Library, and Surrey Libraries compete to determine the winning team. Other Lower Mainland library systems are welcome to join this level of challenge. |
